Water Storage and Pit Treatment

Preventative treatment for bacterial contamination through evaluation of the water source quality, product selection and application, and post-treatment water analysis to maintain customer water quality standards.

Treated to Protect

Dealing with produced, flowback, or even ‘fresh’ sources—includes a multitude of contaminants, such as bacteria, iron sulfide, and hydrogen sulfide. If left untreated, these contaminants can lead to big problems like restricting production flow and damaging your wellbore.

Applied Chemical Solutions

On-the-fly mobile treatment produced and flowback water in tanks, reserve pits, impoundments, and ponds.

Rockwater provides a variety of solutions to kill sulfur reducing bacteria and acid producing bacteria in your ponds, pits and impoundments, address hydrogen sulfide (H2S), iron sulfide, phenols, and mercaptans. The treatment options are compatible with most commonly used additives in your downhole formulations. Biocide solutions reduce bacterially induced corrosion and are recommended in water-based drilling, completion, and workover fluids. Rockwater provides a variety of treatment options to address various conditions throughout the life of the well incuding:

Open pit and water storage biocides and treatments

  • Chlorine dioxide (ClO2)
  • Peracetic acid (PAA)
  • Sodium hypochlorite, or bleach
  • Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)

Conventional biocides (on-the-fly)

Open pit and water storage biocides and treatments

  • Solid biocides
  • Calcium Nitrate treatment

Preservative biocides for reservoir protection

Getting to the Source of the Problem.

One of the most important phases of treatment occurs immediately prior to the frac during source water disinfection. Any water sources used during frac operations will be injected downhole and combined with fluids where microbes are at much higher concentrations and already adapted to the high-salinity formation. If deleterious microbes thrive in the reservoir, long-term production can be harmed via plugging from biomass growth, fouling, corrosion (from acid formation), and formation of toxic gases like hydrogen sulfide (H2S).

Critical Water Analysis

Rockwater can help make critical recommendations when it counts. Rockwater water analysis labs are staffed by experienced chemists and engineers who assess different aspects of your source water, well and fluid systems to formulate solutions that boost productivity and prevent issues over the life of the well.
